In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the focus was on the main protagonist, Basim and the iconic Hidden Blade, set in the backdrop of 9th century Baghdad. It was important to make sure players understood that this game was returning to its roots in a sense with an emphasis on stealth, and a set in smaller, more intimate backdrop for the story. The Ubisoft team wanted to focus squarely on was the city of ancient Baghdad as an intentional departure from the sprawling maps of previous stories in the franchise.

Details

Some black and white sketch explorations from round 1. The goal was to try to caputure the more intimate urban environemnt of early Baghdad, as well as try to recreate the nostalgia of early fan-favorites in the franchise.

3D PROCESS

Details

The key art utilized several different elements in its production, including custom-posed 3D character models rigged and textured in Blender, kitbashed 3D environments, as well as custom textures and photography and hand painting. It was a great experience working with the Ubisoft developers in France to make sure the pose for Basim was just right.
